The Swiss railway company SCB was founded in 1836 with the intention of building a line Bäle - Zurich. The Ed 3/5 steam locomotives were designed in 1858 by the Maschinenfabrik Esslingen Germany. They weighed 33 tonnes and produced 370 horsepower.
