A little touch of history:
In September 1981, the SNCF company wanted to demonstrate that it was possible to run a train daily at 260 km/h in complete safety. Hence the launch of the "TGV 100" operation, which aims to reach the speed of 360 km/h using the brand new infrastructure and standard equipment.
After several tests carried out on the plain of Alsace, the press was convened on February 26, 1981 to attend the speed record attempt. At 15:28, the train was launched, and then, at 15:41 at kilometre point PK154, the maximum speed of 380 km/h was reached. The old speed record (331 km/h) of 1955 was beaten.
