History of the BB 22200 Locomotive:
The BB 22200 Locomotive series is the twin-current version of the "Nez cassés" family of locomotives. For historical reasons, the French rail network is distinguished by the use of two types of electrification. This is why, in 1976, the cousin of the BB 7200 and BB 15000 (also "Nez Cassés"), the BB 22200 was born, capable of running on both a 1500V direct current and a 25000V, 50Hz alternating current electrical network.
