The little story:
In July 1977, the Y 8001 shunting locomotive, known as the Locotracteur in France, was produced at the Moyse factory. It marked the start of a series of 525 units intended for shunting operations in SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français) stations, marshalling yards, building sites and workshops. These locomotives were more powerful and longer than their predecessors, which also enabled them to replace certain locomotives for transporting light goods trains on the railways.
