The little touch of history:
The unified locomotive programme of the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft (DRG) also included the development of a powerful locomotive for freight trains. The 44 series three-cylinder steam locomotive was designed to pull freight trains of up to 1,200 tonnes on medium gradients and up to 600 tonnes on steep gradients. The first 10 examples of the new series with a 1'E h3 axle arrangement were delivered in 1926. Series production did not begin until 1937, when the need for traction equipment increased, and many examples of this locomotive were built in different variants. Until they were replaced by modern diesel and electric locomotives, the Series 44 machines formed the backbone of heavy goods train services throughout Germany.
Introduction to the manufacturer Fleischmann:
The German model railway brand Fleischmann was founded in 1887 by Jean Fleischmann. But it was in 1949 that the company created its first model train, which was designed in O: 1/45th scale. The company was subsequently acquired by Modelleisenbahn GmbH in 2008.
In 2017, Fleischmann decided to specialise in the design of model railway products in N: 1/160th scale. From now on, the production of HO: 1/87th scale equipment is reserved for the Roco brand, which currently belongs to the same group.
Like the Roco brand, the brand is characterised by their attention to detail, and the robustness of their products, which are designed from metallic materials. The brand also offers railway accessories (spare parts, tyres, couplings, etc.) and digital modules (analogue controller, digital control unit, digital remote control, etc.).
