A few words about the Saviem vans from the SG series
In 1945, Renault began manufacturing industrial vans at the request of the French government. There was a crying need for construction machinery in the midst of reconstruction. After a number of commercial successes, in 1955 the marque aux losange launched a new range of vans: the SG range. These were marketed under the Saviem-Renault name. The vehicles were assembled in Blainville sur Orne, Normandy. This prototype evolved over time. In 1966, it was fitted with square headlights and a wider windscreen. In 1967, it was equipped with four-wheel drive. In 1973, it was further modernised. The truck was fitted with twin rear wheels. It was discontinued in Europe in 1982, but continued to be exported to Africa for several years.
