This beautiful miniature railcar is a scale model from the REE Modèles model railroad brand (reference VM039). It is a reproduction of the A 80 D Billard Iroquois N°31 railcar of the Compagnie de chemins de fer départementaux (CFD). This miniature locomotive is designed to run on a HOm scale miniature rail network with a metric gauge of 12 mm. This livery ran between 1946 and 1970. This style of model train is ideal for completing a miniature rail network where the theme of the setting is the France of the Thirty Glorious.
The Billard A 80 D was built in Tours by Etablissements Billard, at the request of the Compagnie de chemins de fer départementaux (CFD) in the 1930s. This low-capacity metre-gauge railcar was designed to serve short lines. The first two prototypes were delivered in 1937 in Indre-et-Loire and Charentes. This railcar was equipped with two new bogies that enabled it to reach speeds of 75 km/h, while offering a good level of comfort.
