The manufacturer CornerStone:
The CornerStone brand is a branch of the American company Walthers, which produces models, mainly in HO 1/87 scale, as well as model-making accessories, more specifically aimed at model railways. It was founded in Milwaukee in 1932, but actually seven years earlier, when Bill Walthers, a seven-year-old boy, had his first experience with a Christmas present, a toy train. He pursued his hobby and built the first models himself. After writing a series of articles on how to build remote controls and signalling systems, he received so many letters from enthusiasts like himself that he started building them for others. The first (in the May issue of The Model Maker) was a 24-page, 15¢ catalogue of railway tracks, couplers and electrics. Sales exceeded $500 in the first year, and the company got off to a promising start. Within five years, Walthers had grown so much that he needed a new home. He moved to Erie Street, where everything produced was homemade. In 1937, he created an HO-scale line.
